The Australian branch of global technology consultancy NEC has added the Melbourne Storm to its list of high-performance sporting partnerships, which notably includes the Essendon Football Club.

Already one of most successful teams in NRL history and currently sitting atop of the ladder, the Storm’s high-performance program will now benefit from NEC’s technological expertise, driving results both on and off the field.

In addition to the Bombers and Essendon’s AFLW team, NEC is also a premier partner of veterans sporting organisation Invictus Australia, while paralympic gold-medalist and wheelchair sporting great Dylan Alcott is an NEC ambassador.

“It’s exciting to be entering into this new partnership with an industry-leading and global brand like NEC,” said Storm CEO Justin Rodski. “This is a natural fit, our values are aligned, we share a commitment to innovation and technology, and we look forward to working together to deliver business growth for both our organisations while building a long and successful partnership.”

NEC meanwhile noted that the evolving nature of its strategic sporting partnerships extends beyond the traditional ‘logo-on-jersey’ approach, with the consultancy truly seeking to enhance the performance and capabilities of its partners through innovation as part of its commitment to investing in the future of sport and harnessing technology for high-performance environments.

“The tech sector and elite sport are both high performing industries with immense potential for synergy,” stated NEC CEO Jason Price. “By leveraging technology for advanced analytics and AI, and smart technology to monitor and enhance athletic performance, recovery, and strategic planning in real-time, sporting organisations can reach new heights in performance and results.”

While Essendon’s once-promising season has collapsed at the pointy end, NEC will be hoping its new partner can continue its recent form into October and add another premiership to its trophy cabinet. Price concluded; “NEC Australia’s partnership with Melbourne Storm is a testament to our commitment to enabling premier sports teams, inside and outside of sporting arenas.”
