Chiefs offence stutters - Mahomes limping

Three weeks after suffering a high ankle sprain Patrick Mahomes injures it again on a run that fails to provide a first down. Mahomes is grimacing on the sidelines as the Eagles get the ball back in great field position. The Eagles have 1:22 and two timeouts. Clever use of those time-outs will mean they’ve a stack of time to add to their points tally before the break.

Two-minute warning

The mandatory time-out that takes place with two minutes remaining in each half has arrived. With the Chiefs to receive the ball first in the second half their seven-point deficit isn’t as grim as it looks. A score before half-time and first use of it after the main break could see them take the lead.

Mailata has barely been mentioned so far - and that’s a good thing

The commentators have barely mentioned Jordan Mailata’s name so far - and that’s a good thing.

Australia’s offensive lineman has been super in the first half and has been part of the unit which has afforded quarterback Jalen Hurts the time and space to run for two of the Eagles’ three first-half touchdowns.

The Bankstown boy used every inch of his giant frame to help Hurts surge through a huge opening for that latest touchdown rush. He’s well on the way to being a Super Bowl winner at this rate.

Eagles touchdown - Hurts runs it in

Jordan Mailata does his job and opens up a big running lane for Hurts who has an easy run into the end zone. It was a perfectly executed play. Bravo Mailata, bravo Hurts, bravo Eagles. Eagles lead 21-14 with 2:20 remaining in the first half.

Eagles take a risk - Hurts cashes in big time

Facing a 4th and 5, Jalen Hurts produces a stellar run for 23 yards to keep the drive alive. He’s shaken off the fumble pretty quickly.

Hurts needs to regain composure

As scoring teams kick off to resume play, there’s no time for Hurts to sulk. He’s straight back out there. After a good run, he took another risk and it almost resulted in an interception. Calm down a bit, Jalen.

In the lead-up to the Super Bowl LVII, a few of the Eagles shared their favourite Rihanna songs ahead of the singer’s historic half-time performance.

Hurts howler results in Chiefs touchdown

Just when Hurts looked to be cooking, he produces a horrible fumble which costs his team seven points. That was the last thing we were expecting. Nick Bolton was the first to the ball and he scooped it up and enjoyed an unchecked run into the end zone. Anyone betting on Bolton to score a touch down will be eating steak and lobster for dinner tonight. Scores are again level. 14-14 with 9.39 left in the first half.

‘Rihanna Concert Interrupted by a Football Game, Weird But Whatever’

For music fans, today is less about football and more about the return of Rihanna after nearly six years away.

While there has been much speculation about whether the performance will be a prelude to new Rihanna music (she hasn’t released an album since 2016’s Anti), the singer has stayed mostly silent on the topic.

To celebrate her comeback, Rihanna has released a line of lingerie and merchandise through her billion-dollar Savage X Fenty brand. Arguably the most popular item has been a special edition T-shirt reading, “Rihanna Concert Interrupted by a Football Game, Weird But Whatever,” which promptly sold out.

Model Cara Delevigne was spotted at the big dance repping the Rihanna shirt.
