A year on from his Super2 debut, Cameron is racing Supercars for the first time alongside Aaron Love in the #3 CoolDrive Mustang.

It was a decent day for the blue crew, with the #3 being 14th, 16th and 18th across the three sessions.

Whilst Cameron is determined to make the most of his opportunity, he is simply happy to be a main game driver.

“Everyone is giving me a bit of shit because I am just smiling all the time because I am so happy to be here,” Cameron told AUTO ACTION.

“I know we have to be serious and have to go for it, but I am like ‘this is my Supercars debut’ and one of those happy guys that even though the car may not be perfect, it is just awesome to be in the Supercars Championship with Aaron Love.”

Cameron is one of the eight drivers doing double duties across Super2 and Carrera Cup.

The Kelly Racing Super2 driver admitted it was a challenge switching from the Gen2 Mustang to the Gen3 version.

“On my side I did not really adjust as quickly as I wanted from the Super2 car which was frustrating,” he recalled.

“For me it is the throttle. When you go from the hard tyre and the one to one throttle in the Super2 and get in the main game car, yes it has the SuperSoft but I feel like the throttle has not much, not much, not much, but then it just goes in the last 30 percent.

“So trying to feel the traction is difficult, especially because this track is so bumpy while in the Super2 car it is quite easy to feel where the tyre is at.

“I feel like I am getting a better handle on it.”

Overall Cameron feels the two Aarons are in a good space.

“For us it is all going to plan,” he said.

“I am much more happy after that final session because I was not overly pleased with my first co-driver’s session.

“Aaron did a good job tuning up the car as well and I felt like I could really attack in that last session.

“I am sure Aaron and JC will go through the data and make it go fast so Jack and I can sit back and pluck gears in the race.”
