PARK CITY, Utah — A man suspected of shoplifting from Smith’s grocery store in Kimball Junction was arrested this morning following a foot chase with Summit County Sheriff’s deputies.

The incident began when deputies attempted to contact the suspect at his home in the Redstone area of Park City. After the man refused to answer the door, so deputies left. Sgt. Skyler Talbot, public information officer for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, said, “We just didn’t have the legal standing to enter the home, even though we knew he likely was involved in this theft. A short time later, we returned, spoke to family members, who said he had left and was on a jog.”

“Smith’s is still trying to do an accounting for what all they believe was taken,” Sgt. Talbot explained. “It sounds like the individual was just going through aisles, putting things in bags.”
