Here's where all seven battleground states currently stand
Georgia was the first major swing state to close its polls on election night and is currently favouring Trump. Joe Biden won Georgia in 2020, but Donald Trump won it in 2016.
MichiganMichigan’s polls have partially closed, and voting will finish completely at 1pm AEDT. The current count is leaning towards Kamala Harris. Joe Biden won Michigan in 2020, but Donald Trump won it in 2016.
Nevada’s polls will close at 2pm AEDT, and while considered a swing state this election, it has been favourable to the Democrats in recent elections. It was won by Hillary Clinton in 2016, and Joe Biden in 2020.
North CarolinaNorth Carolina’s polling has closed and with 20 per cent of the vote counted, Donald Trump is in the lead. The state was won by Trump in both 2016 and 2020.
Counting in Pennsylvania has closed, and the state is currently leaning favourably toward Kamala Harris, though with just over 10 per cent of the vote counted. Pennsylvania has been widely regarded as the most important swing state in this election because it holds 19 electoral votes. In 2016 Pennsylvania was won by Donald Trump, but Joe Biden won it back for the Democrats in 2020.
WisconsinWisconsin’s polls will close at 1pm AEDT, and is the final swing state (alphabetically) in play tonight. Wisconsin was won by Donald Trump in 2016, and Joe Biden in 2020.
