Dozens of domestic flights out of Sydney Airport have been cancelled as heavy rain and flash-flooding continue to lash the city.

On Friday morning, 46 domestic flights were cancelled, with that number expected to climb throughout the day.

“Due to storm activity, there have been some flight delays and cancellations,” a Sydney Airport spokesperson said.

“We encourage passengers to check with their airline regarding the status of their flight.”

It comes as train lines across greater Sydney face major delays as wet weather “damaged equipment” at Redfern station.

Travellers are urged to continue checking Transport for NSW for updates and further information on their train lines.

NSW Premier Chris Minns warned it is “very important” for NSW residents to listen to updates, especially those who live in an at-risk community.

“It’s vitally important that you don’t take unnecessary risks, particularly driving through floodwaters,” he said.

The SES has carried out six rescues in the last few days, with that number also expected to climb.

Those in at-risk communities are also urged to download the Hazards Near Me app for updates.
