Star Western Sydney Wanderers signing Juan Mata has been named on the bench by head coach Alen Stajcic for his side’s Sydney Derby encounter with Sydney FC in Round 1 of the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
Should Mata make his first appearance as a Wanderer on Saturday night he’ll do so as a substitute in the blockbuster fixture of Round 1.
Sydney FC star Douglas Costa has been named in the Sky Blues’ starting XI for the trip to Wanderland, while 21-year-old Tristan Vidackovic starts in goal for the hosts with Socceroo Lawrence Thomas absent from the squad. Jordan Holmes, an off-season goalkeeping recruit from Brisbane Roar, is on the bench for the Wanderers.
