'Prove me wrong here': Haddin's all-time commentatory backfire as ...
The Sydney weather forecasters have got it wrong again and the highly-anticipated Sydney Smash has been abandoned with the Sixers at 1/34 after four overs chasing 152 runs for victory.
The teams will share the points because the second innings didn’t get to five overs.
But had one more over been completed, the Sixers would have won under the Duckworth Lewis Stern system, given they already surpassed the 33 runs they would have needed by the end of the fifth over (so long as they did not lose another wicket).
While the action in front of a record sold-out crowd was cut short by the weather, there was still a hilarious moment in commentary, and yet another controversial umpiring decision.

Alex Ross was given out caught in the deep in the 15th over and was walking off before replays showed it wasn’t taken cleanly by James Vince and the decision was overturned.
It’s not the first time the Sydney Sixers have been involved in a controversial decision over a catch, with captain Moises Henriques awarded a catch against the Melbourne Stars despite questions over whether the ball had touched the ground.
On that occasion, opener Tom Rogers was given out after the on-field umpires sent the decision upstairs.
This time around, it was a different story.

Meanwhile, there was a hilarious moment as Thunder skipper Chris Green was bowling in the second over of the Sixers innings, with Fox Cricket commentator Brad Haddin delivering an all-time commentator’s curse.
Haddin went into a detailed explanation as to why the Thunder would be better served using a bowler who takes more wickets in the powerplay.
“This is his fifth over in the powerplay this year, he’s only got one wicket. I understand what he brings in the powerplay but I would like to give hatcher the ball, let Green bowl the last over of the powerplay. His role is to bowl dot balls. Defending a small total like this, I’m giving the ball to Hatcher and telling him to take the handbrake off and go get wickets.
“Prove me wrong here, it’d be great to get a wicket. But I think sometimes he can over-bowl himself in the powerplay.”
Then Green ran into bowl, and promptly took the wicket.
Mark Howard roared: “And he does prove him wrong, well done, perfectly done! Brad Haddin called the wicket!”
Haddin could hardly hide his laughter as he replied: “I called it. He’s a great bowler in the powerplay, Chris Green!”
Brett Lee and Mark Howard were almost in stitches in the commentary booth.
