Delays expected on Sydney's train network 'well into peak' after ...
Commuters are being warned to expect delays "well into the afternoon peak" after a network-wide issue halted services in Sydney this morning.
Trains were stopped at platforms or between stations about 10:20am on Friday due to the error, according to Sydney Trains.
In a statement, the Transport Management Centre said services had resumed running but added that "passengers should continue to allow for plenty of extra travel time".
"Passengers are also advised to listen to announcements and check information displays for service updates as stopping patterns may change at short notice," it said.
A spokesperson said those delays are "expected well into the afternoon peak".
Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink posted on X, formerly Twitter, that services could stop at different platforms and trip times might take longer than scheduled.
Sydney Trains said services on its electrified network were stopped for about 18 minutes before running again after a temporary power issue.
"Frequency of service will progressively return to normal, however passengers should continue to allow extra travel time," a spokesperson said.
"The issue is being investigated by Sydney Trains engineering teams."
The Sydney Metro line in the city's north-west is operating as usual.
