UFC LIVE: Aussie stuns with 46-second KO as epic heavyweight title rematch nears

It’s time for the heavyweights to run it back.
It’s time for the heavyweights to run it back.

It’s been over three years since Stipe Miocic nullified the power of Francis Ngannou, and made the UFC’s scariest striker look rather tame.

And while it doesn’t feel like it’s been that long, quite a bit has happened in the time it’s taken Ngannou to earn another shot.

Miocic lost his belt, but won it back, while Ngannou has put together a four-fight win streak that has seen him spend a total of just 162 seconds in the cage.

At UFC 260 in Las Vegas, they face off again, with Ngannou looking to show just how much things have changed.

Australian Alexander Volkanovski was scheduled to defend his featherweight belt for the second time against Brian Ortega, before COVID-19 cruelly intervened.

Also on the main card, Vicente Luque submitted Tyson Woodley in the first round of their welterweight co-main event, Sean O’Malley finished Thomas Almeida in the third, Miranda Maverick outlasted Gillian Robertson, and Australian Jamie Mullarkey stunned everyone.

AUSSIE PULLS OFF STUNNING KO WIN

Australian Jamie Mullarkey earned his first win in the UFC in stunning fashion with a 46-second knockout of Khama Worthy.

Opening up the UFC 260 main card, Mullarkey landed a left hook that put Worthy down, before jumping on the ground to finish the fight.

“It feels unbelievable,” Mullarkey said post-fight. “We worked so hard for this fight. I’m glad I just finally got to showcase my skills.

Mullarkey, who went through training camp with featherweight champion and fellow Aussie Alexander Volkanovski, had lost the first two fights of his UFC career, but looked slick and composed against the dangerous Worthy.

That was a nasty finish from Jamie Mullarkey. What a way to bag your first win in the promotion. #UFC260
