Live updates: Tim Tszyu vs Brian Mendoza, WBO super ...

Dargan vs Amelia, Round 7

Amelia is closing the gap better here and has Dargan in reverse.

Amelia goes up then down and lands to the body.

Now there's some real power coming from Amelia's gloves! The sound of leather on body went up a notch there as Amelia opened up her shoulders and looked to have Dargan in trouble.

Good work from Amelia again but Dargan is watchful and keeping Amelia at range with some nice jabs.

Good shot from Amelia to the jaw of Dargan, who fires back with a brutal shot to the head of her own! Incredible action to end the round!

Dargan vs Amelia, Round 6

Cagey start to this round before Amelia comes in close and lands a couple.

A solid right from Dargan forces her back though.

This is being fought at a range that Dargan wants with her rangy, scoring punches, and Amelia is just having trouble with her own distance.

Amelia gets close again but is caught on the chin - but responds in kind! Good exchange!

The pair gets their heads close and Dargan lands a couple of body shots.

Another decent exchange sees both women get hit as the bell goes.

I'd say another one for Dargan.

Tim Tszyu is on route to the Convention Centre

He's in a white ute with TT2 branded all over it, in a convoy of convertables.

Very showbiz.

Dargan vs Amelia, Round 5

Amelia is plenty willing enough, throwing plenty of shots but it's Dargan who is being far cleaner in her work and that will be catching the eyes of the judges.

Speaking of eyes, time is called and Amelia is being shown to the doctor who is happy enough that she can continue.

Good straight left from Amelia scores.

Dargan lands a couple of shots back though.

Both women trade in the centre of the ring! Great action and both landed plenty!

The referee calls a break and they're straight back into it - Amelia getting low on her way in and getting hit by Dargan as a result.

Good shot from Dargan, a straight left rocking Amelia.

Amelia is hit again and staggers back a bit and that's enlivened Dargan, who throws a few more that land!

Dargan lands with another solid flurry of shots to end the round.

Amelia is in trouble.

Dargan vs Amelia, Round 4

Dargan works the jab and lands a couple of times - no power though.

Amelia comes in and gets hit, but then lands a couple of shots of her own.

Amelia lands a couple but is then caught with a solid shot to the chin.

Good combination from Dargan, the last of a flurry of three shots gets Amelia on the jaw.

Another good shot from Dargan lands to the head of Amelia.

This is a terrific contest.

Amelia lands to the body bit is then rocked just before the bell by a solid straight right from Dargan, who has probably won the last two rounds to lead 3-1 on the cards.

Dargan vs Amelia, Round 3

The replays from that second round showed both women landing solid shots to the jaw.

(No Limit Boxing: Zain Mohammed)

Both women took them though.

Dargan goes to town on the head of Amelia in close - good combo.

Dargan lands to the head again - then the body.

There are shots coming back from Amelia but it's the better stuff from Dargan so far.

Dargan has lost her mouthguard but that might end up being a relief for Amelia to reset.

Amelia is cut but has come out firing and Dargan loses the mouthguard again - punched out by Amelia.

It's the right eye of Amelia that's cut and there is a rivet of blood running round the side of her face - not sure but it might have been a head clash?

Amelia lands to the body and then the head of Dargan.

Then Dargan lands a couple of really good shots to end the round on top.

Dargan vs Amelia, Round 2

A three-punch flurry from Dargan lands.

Then a good upper cut from Dargan lands as well

Amelia comes forward though and throws plenty to the body and the women trade in the centre of the ring.

Great shot from Amelia! Rocking Dargan back towards the ropes. Good power.

Solid body work from Amelia, Dargan responds with some long range shots of her own though.

Those are scoring shots but the power is coming from Amelia when she throws.

That's another terrifically competitive round - I think Amelia might have nicked that with the more eyecatching work, but Dargan was still busy enough to give the judges enough to look at.

Dargan vs Amelia, Round 1

Nice flurry from Dargan, but both women are throwing early.

Dargan was on the back foot and did really well though to force Amelia back.

Dargan throws out a jab or two, but then lands a decent number of shots to the body and head of Amelia.

Dargan wants the range and is fighting nicely when Amelia isn't crowding her, but right at the end of the round Amelia gets in close and lands two really good shots.

Good, tight round of boxing, I think Dargan edged it for me though.

Time for the women now, eight, two-minute rounds at super bantamweight for the vacant Australian title.

Shanell Dargan (2-1-2), a Wiradjuri and Mununjali woman, may be familiar to some people more in tune with their pop culture references than I am.

Dargan performed on X-Factor in 2014, telling SBS that she sung in front of John Legend in New York.

Her opponent is Amber Amelia (3-1), a Palawa woman who hails from Lake Macquarie.

This is the first time an Australian title will be contested between two Indigenous women, for a belt that now features the Indigenous flag on it.

Both women came in under the weight limit yesterday (54.94kg and 54.74kg respectively) and, again, were fully respectful of each other during the face off which, frankly, was lovely to see.

Key Event

Vousiutu beats Long by TKO

Long is livid and is walking around the ring looking for someone to argue with.

But he was laid out on his back by the shot and then, when he did get up, was not steady on his feet.

A decent stoppage and a win for Vousiutu, who bounces back from his defeat last time out.

(No Limit Boxing: Zain Mohammed)

Look, that was not much of a spectacle. At the press conference on Friday Long said he was not sure why he was here.

Given he barely threw a punch, neither are the crowd.

He took the fight on barely a week's notice though and was not in great condition - he used his flamboyance to put on a show, but it was not too competitive.

Vousiutu vs Long, Round 4

Long was arguing a bit with his corner there, but he's been allowed to come out for the final round.

Long is down again!

Vousiutu lands from range and Long falls backwards.

(No Limit Boxing: Zain Mohammed)

There's a real wobble when he gets up.

The referee waves it off!

Vousiutu vs Long, Round 3

Long is bringing the showmanship, the walk at the start of the second round is still the highlight from this fight as they resume their vigils in the centre of the ring.

(No Limit Boxing: Zain Mohammed)

Vousiutu has Long in the corner straight away and lands a couple of shots - this is better from Vousiutu, imposing himself a little bit on the bigger man.

Tim Tszyu - Figure 8
Photo ABC News

Long has camped himself in the corner and, to ironic cheers, has landed a couple of clubbing shots to Vousiutu's head.

Long appears to be using the head a bit there in close.

Now that's better from Vousiutu, a flurry of shots and - and Long's down!

He stays flat on his front for most of the count and then leaps up - kinda.

(No Limit Boxing: Zain Mohammed)

He'll be allowed to continue.

Good combinations from Vousiutu but Long fires back.

This is good from Vousiutu.

Long lands a clubbing blow back but it's mostly one way now - Vousiutu stalking Long and landing at will.

Long got hit on the bell there and wobbled back to his corner a bit.

A 10-8 round to Vousiutu.

Vousiutu vs Long, Round 2

Hoping for more action in this round.

Vousiutu stalks Long, who walks away with some flamboyance in mocking acceptance of the lack of punches being sent his way.

(No Limit Boxing: Zain Mohammed)

Vousiutu launches himself off his feet again but makes little contact of consequence and Long leans his considerable bulk onto him.

Tim Tszyu - Figure 9

"It's like watching Charlo," opines one of the punters.

You'd love to see one of these men use a jab...

That's better from Vousiutu, he's got Long in the corner and lets his hands go.

Long ties them back up and leans down on Vousiutu again.

Goodness me, both men just threw a jab then. It wasn't a good one, but it was thrown.

(No Limit Boxing: Zain Mohammed)

Vousiutu has Long where he wants him, in the corner, biding his time and then lands to the head.

Long covers up and gets out of it.

Another round for Vousiutu.

Vousiutu vs Long, Round 1

I know I've already mentioned it, but it really is worth saying that Julius Long is absolutely massive.

(No Limit Boxing: Zain Mohammed)

The Michigan-born, Auckland-residing monster heavyweight is known as the Towering Inferno.

Given the flame throwers around the ring, elevated away from the spectators for safety reasons, are only just higher than him, it's an apt name.

"Let's rock and roll," growls our referee for this one. Indeed.

Cagey start from both ben, feinting and shadowing from Vousiutu, but he has a long way to go to get up to Long's head.

Vousiutu lands a couple of punches to Long's arm, that's the only place he can reach to be fair, but Long is taunting him really.

Now Vousiutu launches himself towards Long and they tangle.

He tries it again but Long backs away in time to avoid getting caught.

The crowd are getting a bit restless...

Good action now from Vousiutu, landing a flurry of shots the head of Long, and then again. Good work from Vousiutu.

Long plays up to the crowd a bit - pantomime stuff in the heavyweights and gets a cheer from the crowd.

They want Vousiutu to throw a punch.

That's the round, I think Vousiutu did enough to win it, but action was a bit sparse.

Now it's time for the biggest of big men, the heavyweights. Four rounds of action between Toese Vousiutu and the biggest boxer around, the 216cm tall Kiwi-American Julius Lloyd Long.

Photo ABC News

Long (18-26-1) might not have the best record, but he has a monstrous reach of 229cm and weighed in at 132.2kg.

He admitted that he came into this fight on short notice, but got plenty fired up at the face off at the weigh in, shouting in Vouiutu's face.

Vousiutu (5-1) is looking to bounce back from defeat last time out and weighed in at 112.14kg.

When will Tim Tszyu walk to the ring?

The first of the main undercard fights is set to get underway in a second.

But that means there are still four fights before Tim Tszyu will walk to the ring, which could be as much as two hours away (2pm AEDT).

Your best bet is just to keep it here with us to be honest - that way you'll miss nothing.

Key Event

The undercard

This fight has a tremendous support cast of fights on the Gold Coast.

Here's how the schedule looks.

We've already had the prelims, where Wade Ryan earned a unanimous decision win against Sergei Vorobev for the IBF Pan Pacific super welterweight title.

Tim Tszyu - Figure 12
Photo ABC News

We also saw a very competitive fight between Hass Hamdan and Danvers Cuschieri at a 64.5kg catchweight.

This one was a grudge match - their trainers have had a lot of  beef all through fight week - and the fighters in the ring did not disappoint.

Hamdan showed some real class at times, and I think was just the more accurate of the two men, but Cuschieri was never out of it and threw plenty of heavy shots of his own as well.

(No Limit Boxing: Zain Mohammed)

In the end, it was Hass Hamdan who got the decision on the scorecards by unanimous decision and deservedly so I think.

Now though, it's time for the main card.

Tim Tszyu has, in the past, had trouble making weight for super welterweight limit.

This time, he's done it easy.

The reason for that? Omar Iferd, his chef.

"Usually I'm a bit angrier because making weight has been hard, but it was a bit smoother this time," Tszyu said at the weigh in.

"I'm nice and relaxed. First time ever I didn't have to go to the sauna. Normally I have to roast myself in the sauna.

"Kudos to my chef Omar. He's really been helping me out the last year and a half. It's been a game changer."

He might be feeling calm and confident about the contest, but Tszyu is certainly wary of what might be coming back, with Brian Mendoza looking in supreme shape as well.

"It's going to be a tough fight," he said.

"Any fight, especially when you've got someone who can hit your lights out, you've got to be extra cautious.

"That's what I'm saying in my head, of course. I'm preparing for 12 rounds. I'll take it round by round. If a stoppage comes, it comes."
