Eagles premiership player and club champion Tom Barrass is likely to leave the club, with it becoming increasingly likely he’ll join Hawthorn.

The 28-year-old, who is contracted until 2027, is understood to be eager to accept a five-year deal from the Hawks.

Barrass has been one of the most consistent performers of recent years, highlighted by his claiming of the 2022 John Worsfold Medal.

The key defender flirted with leaving West Coast last year, exploring an offer from Sydney before remaining in blue and gold, but is expected to change colours at season’s end.

The Eagles are expected to ask for hefty compensation should a deal be struck, such as multiple first-round selections.

Barrass’ likely move comes on top of West Australian Tim English being set to turn down a lucrative long-term offer from West Coast to return home.

The Western Bulldogs are growing in confidence the restricted free agent will remain at Whitten Oval, accepting a fresh five-year deal.
