'This is ridiculous': NFL staggered by bizarre sight as yet another ...
It can be a brutal sport, and the Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence is the latest victim, with the star signal caller helped off the field with an ankle injury during his team’s 34-31 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
With the game tied at 28 in the final quarter and the Jaguars deep in Bengals territory, Lawrence’s right ankle was stepped on by a teammate before being caught awkwardly under his own body.
Lawrence wasn’t able to put any weight on the ankle and had to be assisted off by two Jaguars trainers.

Remarkably, Lawrence was made to walk back all the way to the locker room with many wondering why a medical cart wasn’t used to transport the franchise QB.
ESPN reported initial testing showed Lawrence had sprained his ankle but more testing will be required to understand how long he’ll miss.
“I don’t have any information yet on Trevor. We’re still evaluating him,” Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said post-game.
This incident was the latest of a slew of serious injuries suffered by Day 1 starting quarterbacks this season.
That list includes Joe Burrow (Bengals), Aaron Rodgers (Jets), Deshaun Watson (Browns), Kirk Cousins (Vikings), Anthony Richardson (Colts) and Daniel Jones (Giants).
Pittsburgh QB Kenny Pickett also sustained an ankle injury this week and is expected to miss a couple of games as the Steelers attempt to hold their position in the AFC playoff picture.

At 8-4 and with an extremely soft draw remaining, the Jags are all but assured of a playoff spot, however, their ability to go deep in the postseason will depend on Lawrence’s health.
Back-up C.J Beathard was solid in relief, leading Jacksonville on a field goal drive to force overtime, however all Jaguars fans will be holding their breath while waiting for any Lawrence updates in the coming days.
The Bengals entered the game against the Jaguars as heavy underdogs due to the absence of first string QB Burrow.
There wasn’t much expectation around Burrow’s understudy Jake Browning after an uninspiring performance in his first NFL start against Pittsburgh last week.
Browning though, clearly didn’t listen to the doubters, handing in a performance for the ages to help Cincinnati get their season back on track.
Browning was an extremely efficient 32/37, 354 yards and two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing). In fact, the 27-year-old’s completion percentage of 86.4% is the highest in NFL history for a QB making his first or second start.
“They won this game because of Jake Browning, and it was fun to watch...It was a night to remember,” ESPN’s Troy Aikman said post-game.
WR Jamarr Chase proved again why he’s one of the best in the league, catching 11 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown.
With the win, the Bengals remain in the hunt for a playoff spot at 6-6 while the Jaguars dropped to 8-4, but still remain in top spot of the AFC South division.
