UFC 300 picked up another big fight on Tuesday, when UFC CEO Dana White announced on social media that BMF champion Justin Gaethje would defend that title against former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway on the UFC 300 pay-per-view card, which is scheduled for April 13 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

“Fifty wins between them. Thirty-four finishes. Two of the best strikers in the sport. Two of the most durable fighters in the sport. Two of the most aggressive guys in the sport. (Justin) Gaethje destroys all guys with leg kicks and power in both hands. Max (Holloway) is regarded by many to be the best boxer in the UFC and has made many top-10 guys look like they don’t even belong there with him. Two of the all-time greats in the division, and this fight will be five rounds for the BMF title,” White said when announcing the matchup.

Gaethje is the No. 2 ranked fighter in the official UFC lightweight rankings. He has a 25-4 record and is coming off a July 2023 knockout win of former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier. Twenty of Gaethje’s wins have come by way of knockout.

Holloway is the No. 1 fighter in the official UFC featherweight rankings. The former champion in that division has a career mark of 25-7 with 11 knockout victories. Holloway is coming off an August 2023 knockout win over The Korean Zombie. The last time Holloway fought at lightweight was in April 2019, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Poirier for the interim 155-pound title.

In addition to the BMF title fight, White announced that Jim Miller will get his promised spot on the UFC 300 card. Miller, who is coming off a submission win over Gabriel Benitez at UFC Vegas 84, faces Bobby Green, who is coming off a December knockout loss to Jalin Turner. Miller and Green have been scheduled to face off three times before, in 2014, 2021, and 2022. Green dropped out of each of those previous bookings.

These fights join the announced title fight between UFC women’s strawweight champion Zhang Weili and the highly ranked Yan Xiaonan, a title eliminator matchup between Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsarukyan, a scrap between former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt and ex-flyweight titleholder Deiveson Figueiredo and the three initially announced UFC 300 bouts: Aljamain Sterling vs. Calvin Kattar at featherweight, Jiri Prochazka vs. Aleksandar Rakic at light heavyweight, and Bo Nickal vs. Cody Brundage in a middleweight scrap.

The main card of UFC 300 streams on ESPN+ pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN2 and early prelims on ESPN+.
