Wembanyama said it was an experience playing against Jokic and admitted he learned a lot with more to come after watching film. The Spurs were comfortably beaten by the Nuggets, and he could see why they were NBA champions last season, Wemby said.

Sunday night, Victor Wembanyama faced arguably his greatest matchup in the NBA in his career so far - the reigning NBA Finals MVP Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. Despite Wembanyama's solid performance, the San Antonio Spurs lost again.

Wembanyama registered 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks while making an impressive 6 steals, tying the second-best result for a Spurs rookie in franchise history. Nevertheless, the Spurs lost for the 12th time in a row, marking the third-worst result in franchise history.

Jokic, meanwhile, was his usual self, finishing the game with 39 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists, just one shy of a triple-double.

"I think I learned a lot. I will learn even more when I watch film of this. I think it's an experience, but it would've been better if we had won," Wembanyama said about playing against Jokic.

Playing against the reigning NBA champions showed how much the Spurs are behind, Wemby said.

"I can see why they won it. It's a very balanced team, it feels like they know each other very well. It's a great challenge," Wembanyama said. "Every time we're going to play them, it's going to be great intensity. What's beautiful about them is everyone knows their role. It's a good team."
