US president-elect Donald Trump has announced that Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk will lead a so-called 'Department of Government Efficiency' alongside American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
"Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies — Essential to the 'Save America' Movement," Trump said in a statement posted to his Truth Social platform on Tuesday (local time).
Trump has been shaping his team ahead of his return to the White House in January. Other appointments Trump says he will make include
as the country's "border czar" and
as his White House chief of staff.
The president-elect has also said he will nominate former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee to be the US ambassador to Israel and New York congresswoman Elise Stefanik as United Nations ambassador. Trump has named South Dakota governor Kristi Noem as head of the US Department of Homeland Security.
