Warriors vs Wests Tigers
Friday NRL scoreboard45' Storm lose their challenge

Papenhuyzen knifes through around his own 30 and loses the ball as he looks to play it. Gutherson was hanging around there, so the Storm challenge but the decision stands. Parra on the attack.

Second half is underway in Parramatta

Storm kick us off and the Eels have to keep the points to a minimum while Tago is in the bin if they're to have any chance.

Update

28 - 16 to the Warriors is pretty close to your 32 - 14 prediction - well played Nick

- Mike

Thanks Mike - what's that old saying about broken clocks being right sometimes?

Halftime: Storm 14 lead Eels 8

Melbourne make a bust down the right edge as the seconds run down, Warbrick bursts into space and he gets tracked down by Hands only for Tago to slow down the ruck to the extent he's penalised and sin-binned. That is absolutely brutal for the Eels, a correct call to be sure - it just undoes much of their good work.

Meaney takes the penalty from the sideline and nails it. Storm lead 14-8.

Nothing flash from the Storm that half - they still haven't had a tackle inside Parramatta's half - but they'll still go in up 12-8. They're' kind of in cruise control and while the Eels are toiling hard it remains to be seen if they can keep it up.

37' Storm deny Parra attack

Anderson drops the ball in the ruck and Parramatta will get a chance to retake the lead before halftime. But that ends when Hughes makes a strong tackle on Lane to shut the Eels down on the last.

31' Munster is on

And there's Munster, he's on at five-eighth. Josh King has come off, so expect Tyran Wishart to switch to lock.

29' Grant pounces for Storm's second

Lane drops a ball cold on his own 30, it lands straight in Grant's hands and the hooker has nobody in front of him. He scores an easy one and Melbourne retake the lead. Meaney converts and it's 12-8 Storm.

28' Melbourne finding joy down the middle

The Eels high-intensity start is beginning to tell - they're beginning to get pulled apart around the ruck with Grant and Hughes starting to make inroads, as is Papenhuyzen. The points haven't come yet, but the Eels need some fresh legs out there ASAP.

19' Eels strike again through Dylan Brown magic

Brown takes on the Storm down the blindside and floats a beautiful pass out to Russell and the winger is over in the corner. Class stuff from Brown, he's been really busy early and Parramatta will need plenty of that if they're to keep this up. Asi's kick fades at the last second and hits the post, but Parra lead 8-6.

Match report: Warriors survive Tigers scare to keep finals hopes alive

They almost made a meal of it but the Warriors have kept their nerve and their NRL finals hopes alive with a 28-16 win over Wests Tigers in Auckland.

The Warriors dominated the first half and flattered their bottom-placed opponents by only leading 14-0 at the break on Friday night.

The Tigers, having been completely out of the game, scored back to back tries to get back into the contest, before prop Addin Fonua-Blake and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak sealed the deal for the hosts with late four-pointers.

The Warriors jumped into 12th, two wins outside the eight, but looked on track to shoot themselves in the foot again, after a hot-and-cold season in which they've been equal parts brilliant and dreadful.

The hosts got out to a fast start, their experienced forwards making light work of the young Tigers pack.

But despite dominating territory and possession, the Warriors were wasteful in attack and were only ahead by four points half an hour into the match.

Mitchell Barnett and Fonua-Blake were among the best on field for the Warriors.

Fonua-Blake, who finished the game with 7 tackle busts and 207 running metres, gave the Warriors an early platform after breaking through the Tigers' line in the opening minutes.

After a series of repeat attacking sets, Kurt Capewell skipped past a diving Starford To'a to open the scoring before winger Edward Kosi claimed his side's second.

Warriors five-eighth Chanel Harris-Tevita continued his horror run with the boot, missing both conversion attempts from the sideline after missing the easiest of levellers against Canberra last weekend.

But after Ali Leiataua dotted next to the posts, a smiling Harris-Tavita duly converted to get the monkey off his back.

The 25-year-old went on to sink another two conversions and a penalty goal, with each successful attempt greeted with raucous cheers from the Mt Smart Stadium faithful.

Tigers' captain Api Koirosau again put in a monumental performance in a losing team, busting a lung to get in position to score a consolation try in the final minute.

Their first season under coach Benji Marshall effectively over, the Tigers have little left to play for but to gain experience for their promising young spine of Jahream Bula, Lachlan Galvin and Tallyn Da Silva.

Marshall will miss teenage winger Luke Laulilli who was withdrawn early after sustaining a grade one HIA after a head clash.

13' Storm go 100 metres to score through Anderson

Ok, this'll take a minute to describe.

Matterson puts Lane in a gap, he just gets pulled down by Papenhuyzen, barely metres out. Matterson doubles up down the blindside and tries to hit Penisini but the pass goes to ground.

Hughes swoops on it and takes off the other way, he's got Papenhuyzen in support. The fullback gets corralled, but the Storm spread it left, Blore links with Howarth and he's got Anderson in support to score! Nice interchange of passing from the Storm and they needed that one, the Eels have been on top physically thus far.

Meaney converts and it's 6-4 Storm.

4' Eels open the scoring as Tago gets first career try

A penalty and a set restart gives the Eels field position and allows them to build pressure, Lane crashes into the defence from close range and pops an offload to Tago, who ducks down low and burrows over for a try! Nice moment for Tago, that's the first of his career. Asi from the touchline - he hooks it across the face and Parra lead 4-0.

Kick-off in Parramatta

The Eels will get us started and they'll run from right to left. Remember, Cameron Munster is back tonight for the Storm - he'll come off the bench.

FULLTIME: Warriors 28 def Tigers 16

A well-deserved try to finish - Koroisau tries to put Twal over, he throws an offload out the back to Fainu, Koroisau makes the second effort to push across in support and he takes a great offload from the youngster to score a well-deserved try. The skipper converts and the final score is Warriors 28 Tigers 16.

75' DWZ kicks clear to seal the game for Warriors

Koroisau puts a desperate grubber in, Tuivasa-Sheck reads it beautifully in his own in-goal and takes off! He's finally brought down near halfway but on the next tackle the Warriors go wide, Watene-Zelezniak puts Graham-Moala away down the sideline and he backs up in support to score the try that puts the nail in the coffin. Harris-Tavita converts and the Warriors lead 28-10.

70' Fonua-Blake crashes over for another try

Fonua-Blake rampages over off a short ball from Walker to score next to the posts! It's a well-deserved try, he's had a whale of a game tonight and that just might be enough to finish the Tigers off. Harris-Tavita converts and the Warriors lead 22-10.

69' Tough moment for Galvin

The Tigers lose their away on the last few tackles of an exit set, Watene-Zelexniak gets out hard at marker to harry Galvin down a narrow blindside and the teenager misses the ball entirely as he tries to hoof it downfield. Warriors ball near halfway.

61' Warriors extend lead to a converted try

Sione Fainu hits Tuivasa-Sheck high and the Warriors get good field position. Leiatau sneaks through after a set play off the tap to put the Tigers right on the ropes, a penalty for late contact on Martin follows and the Warriors will take the two. Harris-Tavita makes no mistake and the Warriors stretch their lead to 16-10.

Injury: Luke Laulilii

The young Tigers winger has copped a headknock and it's a category 1, which means he won't be back tonight. Fa'ataape has gone from left centre to left wing with Samuela Fainu moving to left centre.
