Knife-wielding man arrested after brawl at Melbourne shopping centre

A man has been arrested after he was seen allegedly holding a knife at a shopping centre in Melbourne's west today.

Police believe the man allegedly stole a knife from a grocery store before he began waving it around inside Watergardens Shopping Centre in Taylors Lakes about 12.50pm

Tony told Nine radio's 3AW Afternoons a brawl had unfolded between two men shortly before police arrived.

"There was a brawl in the middle of the shopping centre," he said.

"Two people were fighting with each other and it looked like one pulled out a weapon, not sure, it could be a knife."

Tony said multiple people, including some people working at a barber shop nearby, intervened and tackled the men.

A 30-year-old Sunshine man was arrested and is assisting police.
