Warm weather brings early spike in snake activity on Gold Coast
Snake season is well and truly underway, with recent warm weather causing a spike in activity.
Plenty of slithering surprises have already been found in obscure spots around the Gold Coast, with catchers issuing a warning.
"This year we've seen an immediate spike. In the last week of August, it got very busy, very quickly," Tim Hudson from Hudson's Snake Catching said.

Eastern browns have been particularly active during their peak breeding season, but they're not the only species that catchers have spotted.
"We've had some red belly black snakes getting around, some whip snakes, some green tree snakes," Hudson said.
Other sightings include a pair of carpet pythons found curled up around a plant, and a green tree snake found on a baby's cot.
Hudson said it's important to be wary, as snakes can be found in various places around the house, including rock and retaining walls, toilets, and car engines.
"Give them their space and leave it up to licensed professionals to do all the relocating," he said.
