Will Ashcroft awarded the 2023 rebel Goal of the Year
First-year star Will Ashcroft has been recognised for his round seven snap
The AFL is pleased to announce Will Ashcroft from the Brisbane Lions Football Club has been named as the winner of the 2023 rebel Goal of the Year award.
Ashcroft kicked the rebel Goal of the Year in Round Seven against Fremantle.
He received the Phil Manassa Medal and $10,000 thanks to rebel at tonight's Charles Brownlow Medal Count.
Ashcroft's goal was selected by the AFL All-Australian Committee (counted as 10 votes) and by public voting (counted as one vote).
His goal was selected over finalists Paul Curtis' (North Melbourne) goal in Round 10 and Dan Houston's (Port Adelaide) goal in Round 16.

In addition to the 24 weekly rebel Goal of the Year winners, the AFL Game Analysis Committee could select up to five additional goals from the season to be considered in determining the season's top three.
The additional five goals were:
Michael Walters (Fremantle) – Round 7
Jamie Elliot (Collingwood) – Round 16
Dan Houston (Port Adelaide) – Round 16
Sam Powell-Pepper (Port Adelaide) – Round 19
Errol Gulden (Sydney Swans) – Round 21
The AFL All-Australian Committee voted, and their results determined the top three goals of the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership Season out of the 29 in contention.
Will Ashcroft (Brisbane) – Round 7
Paul Curtis (North Melbourne) – Round 10
Dan Houston (Port Adelaide) – Round 16
These goals were selected based on a 5/4/3/2/1 vote given by each member of the selection committee.
All members of the public that voted and picked a weekly winner in the 2023 rebel Goal of the Year will go into the draw to win $4,000 and a $1,000 rebel gift voucher.
