Worcestershire Cricket Club is thrilled to announce the signing of talented spinner Fateh Singh on a three-year contract. Singh, who made a significant impact in Worcestershire’s Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign last summer, joins the club from Nottinghamshire and will stay at Visit Worcestershire New Road until the end of the 2027 season.
The 20-year-old initially joined Worcestershire on loan for the 50-over competition, finishing as the Rapids’ second-highest wicket-taker with 15 wickets in eight matches. His impressive performances played a key role in helping the team reach the quarter-finals for the second consecutive year. Singh’s standout bowling performance came against Somerset, where he took 4-52.
He also contributed effectively against Kent Spitfires and Northamptonshire Steelbacks, forming a effective spin partnership in the middle overs with Tom Hinley, who has recently signed a rookie contract for 2025.
In addition to his bowling, Singh showcased his batting potential with powerful late-order contributions, highlighted by a brisk 60 against Durham at New Road. Singh has also represented England Under-19s, making 11 appearances between September 2021 and September 2022, including two ODIs at Visit Worcestershire New Road, where he took nine wickets.
Singh made his first-class debut on loan to Northamptonshire in the Vitality County Championship Division Two match against Yorkshire at the end of the season. Now, he aims to earn more regular playing opportunities across all formats with Worcestershire.
Reflecting on his return to the club, Singh said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to sign this contract and be back with Worcestershire long term, I had such a great experience with the Club last summer.
“Playing regularly and contributing with wickets as part of a young attack was very rewarding. I was made to feel so welcome, and I found a strong rhythm with the ball. With several players out injured, everyone stepped up, which was brilliant to see.
“I’m excited to be back at a club known for nurturing young talent, and I hope to follow in the footsteps of players like Jake Libby, who has thrived since joining from Nottinghamshire.
“I’m committed to continuing my development and aiming to make an impact.”
Worcestershire CEO Ashley Giles shared his excitement, saying: “We’re delighted to secure Fateh’s signing, which is a crucial step as we continue to build our squad.
“Fateh demonstrated his potential last summer in the One Day Cup, and strengthening our spin department has been a priority.
“We are putting together a team capable of competing at the highest level and building on last season’s successes.”
