The 25-year-old performed arena-sized hits by Aretha Franklin and Ariana Grande during the action-packed show, but restricted to a hospital bed on Monday morning, it’s a miracle the young singer managed to take the stage in any condition.

Sharing an Instagram story from her sister Jenna — who is a practising surgeon and was present at Reeves’ Sydney emergency room admission — the extent of the singer’s plight was revealed.

“Shout out to my sister who is a literal life saver. Could not have gotten through the last two days without her”, the post read.

Dr Reeves had originally posted the image on Tuesday with the caption: “BTS the morning of yesterday’s grand final.”

“The fact that she was in ED in the morning and then went and ROCKED the stage 10 hours later is the definition of a SUPERSTAR”.

On Sunday’s broadcast, Reeves and fellow top three finalists Dylan Wright, winner, and third-placed Denvah Baker-Moller were seen juggling a loaded schedule which saw them ping-pong between public appearances, rehearsals and wardrobe fittings.

Understandably — after two months of intense competition and pressure — something had to give for runner-up Reeves.

On Monday’s broadcast, host and former finalist Ricki-Lee commended the rising star for her sheer grit after what had been an emotionally and physically draining week.

Revealing to the audience the finalist’s ailing state after singing Aretha Franklin’s A Natural Woman, Ricki-Lee stood beside the exhausted singer in awe after her powerful performance.

“Now can I just say, and I hope you don’t me saying this... but this morning Amy could not speak,” Ricki-Lee said.

Reeves’ personal idol and long-time judge Marcia Hines had battled illness herself on Sunday night, replaced by crowd favourite Guy Sebastian, and the 70-year-old took the opportunity on Monday to offer Reeves support.

“I couldn’t be more proud of you, Amy,” Hines said.

Also shared to Instagram was vision of the slightly more colourful finalist encouraging fans to vote for her as she sat in make up chair ahead of her final performances on the show.
