Where to get a coffee on Good Friday in Brisbane

On just one day of the year, Brisbane truly earns its unfair reputation as a big country town, and that’s Good Friday.

Arguably worse than Christmas Day or New Year’s Day, this public holiday is bad news to anyone reliant on our thriving cafe scene to get them up and moving with a latte, flat white or cappuccino. Because - and I’m sorry - many of them are shut.

But not these ones.

This is not a comprehensive list, and you may have to book if you have brunch on your mind. Also, be aware that you’ll almost certainly be hit with a public holiday surcharge of 10-20 per cent. But heaven knows, it’ll be worth it.

Adonis by the Corso, Yeronga: Open 7am-3pm.

Agnes Bakery, Fortitude Valley: Stock up on sourdough while you’re there, 7am-1pm.

Cafe O’Mai, Annerley: Actually a Vietnamese restaurant but they do coffee, open 7am-2pm.

Colin’s Specialty Coffee, Fortitude Valley: One of Brisbane’s best new cafes is open 7.30am -1pm.
