There are different types of people, just as there are different types of football teams.

I am sure we’ve all met the different types over the duration, but in a workplace, I often find that there are two main types – those who thrive in a controlled environment, and those who excel in chaos.

It may be difficult to believe, but I am one of the latter. I just seem to do better when the pressure is on and I need to come up with something. If I have a plan set out in front of me and it is rigid, I tend to get a little bit lost, but give me a bit of freedom to create and do something out of the ordinary… yes, that’s what I like.

I am a creature of chaos.

And so are the Essendon Bombers.

In a game where the Bulldogs wanted to control the footy, and use their powerful midfield to feed their big-marking key forwards, it was Essendon turning the game into one of chaos that turned the tables.

Sure, some straight kicking from the Bulldogs to match the early output of Essendon may have helped, but it when the ball was in the contest, and when the ball was in there to be won that the Bombers gained the advantage in this game.

They absorbed the pressure in the second quarter as the Dogs came hard at them, and capitalised on the inaccuracy of their opponents to turn up the heat in their own right late in the game, breaking the resistance of the Bulldogs in the last quarter. Breaking their spirits in the process, too.

A massive amount to get through in this game, as you’d expect. Let’s jump into The Mongrel’s Big Questions.
