EKU track and field senior Samuel Carter won the 2022 ASUN triple jump title on what he thought was his final collegiate jump. He graduated and spent the next year in the Army Reserve. When he discovered he had progressive hearing loss in his left ear, his dream of becoming a pilot ended. Undaunted, he returned to EKU this year to earn a master's degree and defend his ASUN triple jump crown.
