Eels vs Dolphins

The Dolphins have embarrassed the Eels in a 44-16 carve-up after a nine-try onslaught to leave their opposition completely shell-shocked.

The Eels shot out to an 8-0 lead 26 minutes into the game with Shaun Lane and Will Penisini scoring after a scrappy start from both sides in hot and humid conditions at TIO Stadium, Darwin.

The Dolphins got on the board before the break through Jack Bostock, who crossed off a harbour bridge pass from 20-year-old playmaker Isaiya Katoa.

And that was just the beginning as the Dolphins, who were without a stack of star players including star fullback Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, ran in eight more tries.

Katoa had a hand in two more and jeremy Marshall-King caused havoc out of dummy-half, but it was rookie Trai Fuller — who was in just his second NRL game — that was the standout.

Bostock finished with a hat-trick after scoring two more tries in five minutes in the second half, while Tesi Niu and Max Plath bagged a double.

The Eels were left battered and bruised after what Fox League analyst Michael Ennis said was a “demoralising loss.” Daejarn Asi was ruled out of the game due to a head knock, while Clint Gutherson pushed through after copping a knock to his shin.
