El Nino watch issued for Australia after La Nina declared over

Australia could face hot and dry weather later in the year as the Bureau of Meteorology has issued a 50 per cent chance of El Nino developing in winter or spring of 2023.

This comes as La Nina – the weather phenomenon that brought devastating floods across Australia – has officially been declared over.

The Bureau of Meteorology has speculated the El Nino forecast could be declared in August.
