Ticketless fans urged to stay away from FA Cup tie

Away fans will be directed into a controlled area before they get access to the turnstiles

Fans without valid tickets have been warned by police to stay away from the match between Nottingham Forest and Manchester United.

The two sides are meeting at the City Ground in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday evening.

Visiting supporters are required to produce physical paper tickets before admission to a controlled area before reaching the turnstiles.

Police and the club said the safety of all supporters was their priority.

Ch Insp Clive Collings, match commander for Nottinghamshire Police, said: "The message for those proposing to travel to this fixture without a valid match ticket is clear - don't.

"You will not be allowed access to the stadium and your journey will be wasted.

"The safety of those attending this - and every other - game at the City Ground, is of paramount importance to both Nottingham Forest and Nottinghamshire Police."

Eamon Collins, ticket office manager at Nottingham Forest, said: "We will be conducting a joint ticket check operation with Nottinghamshire Police for supporters visiting the City Ground on the night of the match.

"As a result, any visiting supporters entering the site producing a print at home, e-ticket, or anything other than an official match ticket, will be turned away and asked to leave the site."
