The 38-year-old, who has been cast in Channel 10’s I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here, revealed he has had no contact with Duff since they filmed the teen movie Agent Cody Banks together in 2002.

Muniz shared they stopped talking due to the Lizzie McGuire star’s mum having issues with him.

“‘I haven’t talked to Hilary, not one word. It’s not that I wouldn’t love to talk to her, but at that time, it was more an issue with me and her mum,” he told news.com.au.

Muniz said the issues began when Duff’s mother Susan asked him to get Duff a role in his spy comedy movie Agent Cody Banks which follows a high school student who has a double life as a CIA agent.

“At the time, I had in my contract I got to pick the girl in my movie,” Muniz said.

Despite Duff eventually co-starring alongside Muniz in the film, her mother’s intense campaigning for her daughter caused tension in his relationship with Duff and they split not long after.

The revelation comes after Muniz was unveiled as one of the celebrities joining Julia Morris and Robert Irwin in the jungle.

He is also appearing alongside other celebs to the likes of Aussie radio host Brittany Hockley, David Warner’s wife Candice Warner, influencer Skye Wheatley and former footy player Peter Daicos.

Muniz said he was asked to appear on several seasons of the show before he finally agreed.

“It was always something that the schedule didn’t work and the show doesn’t air in the US so to be honest, I wasn’t quite sure exactly what it was,” he told The Daily Telegraph.

Muniz rose to fame as youngster, starring in the Fox sitcom Malcolm in the Middle from 2000 to 2006 and Big Fat Liar alongside Amanda Bynes.
