NSW police officer sought over ex-presenter and partner's ...

Detectives are searching for NSW police officer Beau Lamarre in the disappearance of a former Ten presenter and his flight attendant boyfriend after the discovery of bloodied clothing in a skip bin sparked a search for the pair.

Police hold grave concerns for missing Qantas steward Luke Davies, 29, and his partner Jesse Baird, 26, who have not been seen since Monday. Lamarre is Baird’s former boyfriend.

Credit cards, keys and a mobile phone were also found in the bin at Club Cronulla, in Sydney’s south, on Wednesday. A staff member reported the “unusual items” to police, Eastern Suburbs Commander Detective Superintendent Jodi Radmore said.

That discovery led police to Baird’s share house in Paddington, where investigators allegedly found a significant amount of blood and upended furniture.

“We do believe there has been some sort of incident that likely occurred at the Paddington address (on Monday morning),” Radmore said on Thursday.

“Witnesses described it as a verbal argument. It wasn’t reported to police at the time.”

The blood at the home indicated a serious injury, she said.

“Their final movements are still under investigation,” Radmore said.

She said police could not yet say if one or both of the men had met with foul play. Neither have contacted friends or family since Monday. Police said Baird’s phone had shown activity on Tuesday. It’s not known who was using the phone at that time.

Police said in a statement on Thursday night: “Following inquiries, detectives are looking at a line of inquiry that a third person may be able to assist with the investigation.”

“Police are currently trying to locate him.”

The Herald is not suggesting that the police officer was involved in the pair’s disappearance, only that police have said they would like to speak to him. No arrest warrant has been issued.

Baird had told friends he was being stalked by a police officer, Nine News reported.

Sources not authorised to speak publicly have confirmed constable Lamarre is being sought by investigators.

Constable Lamarre joined the police force in 2019. A year later, a video of him tasering a man in the face in Darlinghurst went viral - but he was cleared of any wrongdoing by an internal investigation.

Before he joined the police force, he was a lavish celebrity blogger who interviewed Hollywood A-listers on the Golden Globes red carpet, and has been photographed with celebrities including Selena Gomez, Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus.

Beau Lamarre posted a photograph in 2014 with Taylor Swift on an Instagram account.

A decade ago, a teenage Lamarre was in The Herald after he threw a note at Lady Gaga saying she gave him the courage to come out, and she read it aloud to 15,000 concertgoers.

“But through your music, you have helped and will continue to set free many people… Gaga, you’re not just my idol but LITERALLY my saviour,” he wrote in 2014.

Davies and Baird’s relationship features heavily in each of the men’s online presence – days ago, Baird uploaded an image of the duo at a Pink concert, with a visit to a Hunter Valley winery a fortnight ago.

“Perfect start to the long weekend,” Davies captioned a picture of the duo shirtless at the top of the Palm Beach lighthouse walk.

That picture-perfect image was shattered on Monday morning, when neighbours heard loud arguing from the Paddington terrace that Baird shares with flatmates. The Herald is not suggesting that any of the flatmates have anything to do with the disappearance.

Davies has not turned up to work for Qantas, and Baird, an AFL umpire, failed to appear for the “match simulation” between the Swans and GWS on Thursday morning.

“Jesse was rostered on but did not turn up and has not been in touch with his colleagues. The AFL has contacted his family and offered support,” the football code said in a statement on Thursday.

Qantas said: “Our thoughts are with family, friends and colleagues of our crew member at this very difficult time.”

Detectives have seized two cars from Paddington – one belonging to each missing man – and another from an undisclosed location. They will begin the painstaking task of compiling CCTV and combing through phone records to document the couple’s recent movements.

“Our primary lines of inquiry currently are in regards to the whereabouts of Jesse and Luke. So if anyone knows where they are, please contact us,” Radmore said.

Neither man was previously known to police, and Radmore said there were no signs of anything amiss in their relationship.
