Knights continue home form with win over Manly in D-Saf's 150th

The nib Newcastle Knights have picked up their fourth home win from five starts with a 28-18 win over arch rivals, the Manly Sea Eagles, at McDonald Jones Stadium on Sunday night.

Newcastle scored two late tries including a flying Dominic Young special to collect the two points moving into their second bye round. Become a Member.

The red and blue scored six tries to the Sea Eagles three as the side celebrated Daniel Saifiti's 150th NRL appearance.

HOW IT PLAYED OUT:

1st min - The match kicked on in front of 20,661 Members and supporters at McDonald Jones Stadium.

11th min - Last ditch defence from Newcastle kept the Sea Eagles at bay in the early stages of the contest.

13th min - The Sea Eagles would counter attack with Kalyn Ponga throwing an intercept to Josh Schuster. The Manly five-eighth found Reuben Garrick backing up and the winger would streak away to score under the posts.

17th min - Manly added a penalty goal from in front after the Knights kicked the ball short of the 10 metre line from a goal-line drop-out.

21st min - The Knights almost had their first when Bradman Best was held up over the line after a strong run on the left edge.

31st min - After throwing multiple waves of attack at the Sea Eagles defence, the Knights would finally have their first try of the match.

Greg Marzhew powered over in the corner proving too strong for the Sea Eagles cover defence.

33rd min - Newcastle hit the lead with a lightning fast attack.

Tyson Gamble broke into the back-field and found a hard-running Bradman Best who crossed the stripe to give the Knights our second of the night.

37th min - On the stroke of half-time, the Sea Eagles re-took the lead with Lachlan Croker jumping on the ball in the in-goal.

40th min - Manly would take a 14-10 into the change of ends.

49th min - The Knights were back level when Greg Marzhew dived over for his second of the night.

Some second-phase footy freed up Ponga, who set up his second try of the night with Marzhew's second.

51st min - Marzhew had his hat-trick with a brilliant four-pointer quickly after his second.

The Knights spread the ball wide finding the unmarked winger. The No.5 stepped a couple of defenders before powering over the line for his third of the night and the all-important lead.

61st min - Jason Saab streaked away to level the scores at 18-all after collecting an intercept.

65th min - Manly cenre Tolutau Koula was sent to the sin-bin for a late shot on Kalyn Ponga.

67th min - The Knights pounced with an extra man advantage to regain the lead.

A barnstorming Jack Hetherington got over the line before the ball was stripped by a Manly player. Phoenix Crossland was on hand to ground the ball for our fifth try of the night.

77th min - Dom Young brought the house down sealing the result with a sensational 90-metre solo try.
