'I'll literally kill someone': Wild threat on Tszyu undercard as $30k bet ...

Australian boxer Ben Hussain has consulted lawyers over a proposed $30,000 ‘winner takes all’ bet on Wednesday’s Nikita Tszyu fight card at the Hordern Pavilion – a move his rival has dubbed “clown behaviour”.

While the Tszyu boys are making plenty of headlines this week, Fox Sports Australia can reveal a host of storylines are also playing out on a stacked No Limit undercard -- including that $30K bet, an Argentinian who sees “weakness” in Liam Wilson, and new world champ Jason Moloney also making a ring walk … but with a spit bucket.

While he may not yet be known outside hardcore boxing fans, 24-year-old Hussain is looking to announce himself in every sense in the Wednesday night’s Pay-Per-View by scoring an upset over the nation’s world ranked super welterweight Koen Mazoudier.

As part of a hyped build up that started over Instagram, Hussain is challenging Mazoudier – ranked No.9 with the WBA -- to bet his entire purse on the outcome.

During a press conference to announce the card earlier this month, the pair argued about the idea onstage at Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter before then appearing to shake hands over the deal on stage.

In the weeks since, Team Hussain have consulted lawyers to see if the wager is binding, so convinced are they of scoring an upset on a card topped by the showdown between Nikita Tszyu and Jack Brubaker.

Asked about the bet after Monday’s press conference, where he again pushed for the deal to be confirmed, Hussain told Fox Sports Australia there was a simple reason for him wanting to bet with Mazoudier and not bookies, where he would almost certainly get better than even money.

“Because I want to take everything from him,” he said.

“I want his ranking, purse, all of it.

“And I’m deadly serious about this.

“Because if you know you’re winning, why not bet the house?

“Which we have too, we’ve shaken hands on it.

“So we’re about to see what type of guy Mazoudier is”.

Hussain’s trainer Ben Harrington also revealed the team have made legal enquiries about a wager which, while fight purses aren’t disclosed publicly, would be estimated around $30K.

“I’ve actually contacted a lawyer about the bet and he said, the fact these guys agreed on live television, shook hands on it, that makes things pretty clear,” Harrington said.

“He’s told me that given the whole nation can see that bet was made, it will hold up.

“Not that Ben would ever take that action of course.

“He’s no rat.

“But Koen should know the bet is on.”

Mazoudier, meanwhile, took aim at Hussein during Monday’s press conference, especially over his rival’s claim about wanting to take food from the mouths of his two young children – son Miles, 4, and daughter Bowie, 2.

“When we mentioned betting on the fight, I said I didn’t want to take food out of your family’s mouth,” the Sydneysider said, looking across at his rival. “But you said you did want to take food out of my kids’ mouths.

“You do know that I’ll kill someone who wants to do that.

“I’ll literally kill someone.

“If this was a different time, I’d come over there, cut your head off and give it to my kids to kick around like a soccer ball.”

Speaking afterwards, Mazoudier then branded the continued talk of betting fight purses as ridiculous.

“It’s all clown talk, bro,” he said.

“In this sport, we have teams to pay, families to look after, we sacrifice our health for this s…

“So for even bringing the bet up, then trying to back it up this week, that’s how a clown talks.

“Even if the guy wanted to give me his money, I wouldn’t take it.

“And he’ll be the underdog on Sportsbet anyway. So if you really want to make money, why not go do it there?

“But the fact he mentioned my family, that is going to unlock a beast he doesn’t want to deal with.

“I’m on the way to a world title.

“And I know that with a win, it has to be an international fight for me next.

“But I’m also zoned right in on Wednesday night.

“My manager, he didn’t want me to take this one but it’s been five months for me.

“People have been putting all these opponents’ names up to me, I keep saying ‘yes’, then I wait.

“I’m sick of waiting.

“That’s why I put a call out on Instagram and Hussain was the first to say yes.

“So he should be thanking me.

“I’m giving him a massive opportunity.”

Elsewhere on an impressive undercard, Australian boxing mainstay Luke Jackson will have one, and possibly two, Moloney brothers in his corner for what will be his farewell fight.

After almost 100 appearances as both an amateur and professional, the 2012 Olympian is now set to say goodbye with a rematch against Tyson Lantry, who he lost against in 2020.

As part of the build up, Jackson has spent the past month training with the Moloney boys at their Kingscliff base, and is expected to have both Andrew and new WBO bantamweight champ Jason in his corner come fight night.

In the co-main, meanwhile, Argentine Carlos Alanis is ready to derail one of the genuine Next Big Things of Aussie boxing, convinced he sees weakness in Liam Wilson, who is making his first appearance since that world title robbery against Mexico’s Emanuel Navarrete in February.

Speaking via the aid of an interpreter, Alanis, who is ranked No.13 with the WBO, said of Wilson: “He does a lot of strange things which we have studied well.

“He also has a lot of weaknesses.

“When he attacks, he goes down with his defence. And after the fifth round, maybe he loses some stamina.

“We are a small team but very strong, and I feel really confident.

“I will win.”

Back over in Team Hussain, they were talking the same.

Asked about Mazoudier, the rival who wants both men betting their purses said: “He’s a goofy fighter. Boring.

“He’s good at doing nothing – skipping around, watching the clock, taking cute breathers -- and his rivals watch him.

“But I’m not like some of his other opponents, I’m no spectator – I’m a fighter.”

Coach Harrington added: “First off, we have to take care of Mazoudier.

“We have to respect Koen and respect the sport.

“But when Ben wins this fight, a million doors open.

“He takes Koen’s No.9 ranking and we will be ready to go from there.

“We won’t be fighting backwards.

“Even a guy like Nikita Tszyu, while the celebrity is great that fight won’t interest us because we want to win world titles.

“And I’m f…ing telling you now, the only reason we’re in this is to take Ben to a world title -- nothing else.”
