Rita Ora brought the goth glam to the Met Gala 2023.

The star hit the red carpet for the Karl Lagerfeld-centric event in her take on the sheer trend, looking glamorous (and a little sinister!) in a black Prabal Gurung gown with an asymmetrical corseted bodice. One shoulder was bare, while the other featured a matching sheer sleeve held up by a black flower, from which a long, trailing sheer cape floated behind the musician.

The gown itself was completely sheer save for the boning illusion at Ora's waist; panels of black fabric wrapped around her legs, ending in a subtle gathered mermaid hem with black floral appliques near the skirt. Ora accessorized the goth gown with a matching floral lace choker, stacked bracelets on both arms and a pair of black peep-toe sandals, plus a handful of rings for extra glitz and beaded chains attached to her fingernails. It's giving goth bride and enchanted evil queen in the best way.

The sheer trend shows no signs of stopping; it's been a Met Gala mainstay for years, with everyone from Beyoncé to Jennifer Lopez to Kendall Jenner putting their stamp on the look at the high profile event. Ora's take feels very true to her signature look; it's a bit dark and edgy, a lot romantic and a total statement fit for a pop star. The floral details and sheer textures keep it from feeling too heavy, but the extra long cape train is perfectly befitting of the Met Gala and its “the more, the merrier” vibe, not to mention a great reference to her recent wedding.

Ora's husband, director Taika Waititi, mimicked his wife's look with a slouchy silver tuxedo jacket with black lapels and a maxi length accented with a black flower like Ora's. You know what they say: the couples who Met Gala together, stay together!
