The Subway Young Socceroos have played out an entertaining 3-3 draw against Uruguay U20 at the Complejo Uruguay Celeste in Montevideo on Wednesday evening AEDT.

Max Caputo scored a goal either side of Alexander Badolato which put the Aussies 3-0 in front ahead after 32 minutes.

Melbourne City's Caputo curled in a beautiful effort after receiving a pass from Rhys Youlley of Westerlo.

Badolato then drove forward a few moments later and saw his low drive beat the goalkeeper, who managed to get a glove on it, before Caputo pounced again within a minute.

After a turnover, Paul Okon-Engstler played a pass into the City youngster and his swift half-turn allowed him to fire a shot from the edge of the box and beyond the goalkeeper.

However, the hosts managed to fight back with three second-half goals of their own which included a dubious handball call right at the death, forcing a penalty shootout which Trevor Morgan's side lost 4-3.

They now travel to Chile for a two-match friendly series.
