Taylor Swift and Sophie Turner step out together

Just weeks after her split from singer-actor Joe Jonas was confirmed, Sophie Turner has enjoyed a night out with one of her ex’s exes — Taylor Swift.

On Tuesday night (local time), Turner and Swift were spotted arm-in-arm on the streets of New York.

The Game of Thrones actress is one of many famous people Swift has been spotted out with recently.

On September 18, the megastar was seen with Barbie director Greta Gerwig and actors Zoe Kravitz and Laura Dern, but it was the dinner with Turner that really got people talking.

After days of speculation and reports of divorce lawyers being retained, Turner and Jonas announced on Instagram earlier this month that their four-year-marriage was over.

The pair met in 2016, when Turner was just 19, and announced their engagement the following year.

There was a lot of speculation about what led to Jonas hiring a divorce lawyer, with unnamed sources claiming it was Turner’s partying that drove it.

Then came photos of Jonas playing the perfect father, taking his children out with a nanny. It received a lot of backlash online as the two had previously gone above and beyond to shield their two children from the public.

While the sources seemingly tried to push a narrative about Turner being an absent mother, despite the fact she has been working on set abroad, people rallied behind the Queen of the North.

Which is why the internet is obsessed with her meeting up with Swift.

Swift and Jonas dated for a few months back in 2008, but their relationship was abruptly ended by him in a 27-second phone call.

Swift has written a few songs about her relationship with Jonas, including Last Kiss and Mr Perfectly Fine.

Despite the fact they share an ex, Swift and Turner have been quite supportive of each other in the past.

The two appeared on an episode of the Graham Norton Show in 2019, after Turner wed Jonas, and since then both women have expressed mutual admiration.

After appearing on the show, Turner said the two were friendly and that she was a bit of a “fangirl” when it came to the singer-songwriter.

Mr Perfectly Fine was a “vault track” Swift released on her re-recording of Fearless. Upon its release, Turner admitted to liking it.

Sophie Turner and Taylor Swift have been friendly for years. They appeared on the Graham Norton Show in 2019.

“It’s not not a bop,” she wrote on her Instagram stories in 2021.

“Forever bending the knee to the queen of the north,” Swift said in response.

During a TikTok live with her then-husband, Turner admitted Swift’s 1989 album was one of her “favourite albums of all time”.

Despite the fact Jonas broke up with Swift in a brief phone call, she said back in 2022 that the two were on good terms and it was reported that she had purchased baby gifts for Turner and Jonas.

When images of Swift and Turner stepping out in New York made their way to social media, people were delighted and started making parallels between the pair.

Ruby Naldrett, a senior social media editor at the Daily Mirror and Daily Star noted that the apparent attempt to tarnish Turner’s image in the wake of her divorce is something Swift most likely resonates with.

“A certain someone has tried to ruin Sophie Turner’s reputation in the press and nobody knows how that feels more than Taylor Swift does – she knows by being seen with her Sophie will have the support of millions of Swifties (who are die-hard supportive)… that is sisterhood,” she wrote.

People also believe the outing was a power move by Swift and Turner.

While we don’t know what the two spoke about, Page Six reported the they enjoyed “martinis with caviar bumps”.
