The 43-year-old has been in Savannah, Georgia filming her upcoming film Bride Hard, an action comedy where Wilson stars as a secret agent.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Wilson shared that a "stunt accident" at the tail end of shooting sent her to hospital.

"Not the way I wanted to end this movie!" she said.

"3 [sic] stitches and in hospital last night after a stunt accident at 4am."

Bride Hard is one of the few movies still being made at the moment.

That's because the actors and writers unions are on strike, halting both film and TV productions.

With so many members walking off the job as part of the mass industrial action, Hollywood is effectively at a standstill.

What is the SAG-AFTRA strike?

On July 14, SAG-AFTRA, the union that represents actors, among others, joined the Writer's Union on strike, effectively halting a majority of projects currently in production.

SAG-AFTRA members are forbidden from working on or promoting any film or television project as long as the strike is still in place.

But not all actors are on strike

As Wilson's on-set injury demonstrates, some actors are still in productions despite the strike.

That's because a select number of films and television projects are operating under "interim agreements".

Actors are striking against studios and streaming services that bargain as the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).

The group’s ranks include the major film studios (Disney, Paramount, Sony, Universal and Warner Bros.), television networks (ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC) and streaming services like Netflix, Apple TV+ and Amazon.

There are numerous independent production companies not affiliated with the AMPTP, and they are allowed to film with SAG-AFTRA actors during the strike.

The actors' union is calling for production companies to agree to terms including an 11 per cent minimum wage hike, guarantees about revenue sharing and AI protections.

AMPTP rejected these terms, with the union responding by striking against studios that are part of that group.

However, some independent producers and smaller film studios, including Neon and A24, agreed to the conditions.

That means the union isn't striking against those companies

Which productions are still continuing?

More than 120 productions have agreed to SAG-AFTRA's conditions — including Bride Hard, the film Wilson is working on.

Here's a list of other productions that are still filming:

An untitled Guy Ritchie projectDeath Of A Unicorn: An A24 dark comedy starring Paul Rudd and Jenna OrtegaThe Rivals of the Amziah King: A thriller starring Matthew McConaugheyMother Mary: A music industry epic starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela CoelFlight Risk: An action film that marks Mel Gibson's return to the director's chairDon't Move: A horror thriller from Sam Raimi's Raimi ProductionsThe Watchers: The first feature film from director Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of M Night Shyamalan

However, some productions the actors' union aren't striking against are still pausing production in a show of solidarity for the strikers.

Viola Davis decided to step away from her film G20, in which she plays the US president at a G20 Summit overtaken by terrorists, despite it being granted a waiver.

"I love this movie but I do not feel that it would be appropriate for this production to move forward during the strike," Davis said in a statement.

Though the film is independently financed, it's set to be distributed by Amazon Studios — which is an AMPTP member.

Are union actors allowed to promote their films under strike conditions?

Largely, no.

SAG-AFTRA has banned its members from promoting film and television projects through media interviews or even via social media.

However, SAG-AFTRA is reviewing applications that would allow talent to promote independent films at upcoming fall festivals like Venice, Telluride and Toronto.

Luc Besson's DogMan, debuting at Venice, was recently granted an interim agreement allowing its stars, like Caleb Landry Jones, to help promote the film through red carpet appearances and interviews.

What happens if an AMPTP company buys a film that was allowed to continue through the strikes?

While all of the projects that have been granted waivers are independent productions, they still might be sold to distribution companies that are against the striking actors.

Smaller studios, like A24 and Neon, have their own distribution arms that can get films out into the world. But others don't and often are sold to AMPTP companies or streaming services.

This is the case for G20, which is an independent production but was sold to Amazon for distribution.

SAG-AFTRA chief negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland says that it's "a concern" but also a "reality we accept as a possibility".

"If an AMPTP-owned streaming company decides to acquire one of these projects that are created under the interim agreement, then they'll be acquiring a project that has a revenue share attached to it," he said.

"We'll be very pleased for them to start cooperating with that proposal."

What films have been paused because of the strike?

The release dates for a long list of film and TV productions have been pushed back due to the strikes.

Some productions in their infancy have stopped filming altogether.

Productions affected by the strike include:
