CSK (Chennai Super Kings) played GT (Gujarat Titans) for the first time since beating them to the title in Ahmedabad last year. Ruturaj Gaikwad emerged victorious in this battle of the young captains, as Shubman Gill and GT face their first defeat of the season.

CSK continue their winning run in IPL 2024, and rise to the top of the table. The thumping win has had deep woes to GT, who drop down to the fifth position, after their Net Run Rate (NRR) took a dampening hit. 

CSK beat GT by a whopping margin of 63 runs.

11:25 PM: GT 143-8 after 20 overs. CSK beat GT by 63 runs. Chennai Super Kings go to the top of the table, after securing their second win of IPL 2024. This encounter had only one winner all along, as CSK made GT look like school boys. An all-round team effort by Ruturaj Gaikwad's men sees them repeat their heroics from the IPL 2023 Final.

11:20 PM: WICKET! GT 129-8 after 18.2 overs. Mustafizur gets to stat-pad as he keeps wiping the lower order to add to his impressive start to the IPL 2024. Rahul Tewatia hits the ball high in the air, only to land in the hands of who else, but Rachin Ravindra at long-on. Rahul Tewatia 6(11) c Ravindra b Mustafizur.

11:19 PM: GT 128-7 after 18 overs. Pathirana keeps Rahul Tewatia guessing as he fizzes the deliveries off his hand, at over 150 kmph. It is now mathematically impossible for Gujarat Titans to win this match.

11:09 PM: WICKET! GT 121-7 after 16.2 overs. Fizz gets into the act now! Rashid Khan bites the dust as well. The Bangladeshi pacer throws his stock delivery, as Khan is deceived and picks out Ravindra on the boundary rope. 11:00 PM: WICKET! GT 114-5 after 14.5 overs. Sai Sudharsan departs too! And along with that, does all the hope for Titans to win this game. The youngster has finally succumbed to the pressure of required run rate. 10:41 PM: WICKET! GT 96-4 after 11.4 overs. After Dhoni, it is Ajinkya Rahane's turn now! Jinks dives in to catch Miller's ball as he gets down the wicket to Tushar Deshpande. Deshpande is ecstatic, as Jinks comes running in from the boundary to celebrate the wicket. Gujarat Titans need a miracle from here to snatch the win from Chennai's hands. 10:32 PM: GT 80-3 after 10 overs. The Ahmedabad-based outfit are building a partnership on here, as David Miller and Sai Sudarshan attack the part-timer Daryl Mitchell in the tenth over of the innings. With 127 needed off the latter half, at least one of the two, have to bat through. Exciting overs ahead for both sets of fans!

10:19 PM: WICKET! GT 55-3 after 7.3 overs. Daryl Mitchell weaves magic to Vijay Shankar, and the bowling change works wonders for CSK! MS Dhoni dives farthest to pouch the ball as the crowd erupts in joy at the Chepauk. Vijay Shankar fails at home ground, as his miseries with the bat in IPL continue. 10:12 PM: GT 43-2 after 6 overs. The visitors need a rebuild as GT openers depart early in the run-chase. Sai Sudharsan and Vijay Shankar, the local boys, need to build a much-needed partnership to keep Gujarat in the run-chase. Meanwhile, a quick wicket post powerplay could work wonders for Chennai.

10:04 PM: WICKET! GT 34-2 after 4.3 overs. Deepak at the double for Chennai! The Pride at the Chepauk is roaring as their team gets two quick wickets. 09:16 PM: CSK 206-6 after 20 overs. The Super Kings end on a high, despite Mohit Sharma's heroics in the final over. CSK hit 42 runs in the final four, whereas GT did claw their way back, by picking three wickets in the last two overs. The latter part of the CSK innings has given them a new gem - Sameer Rizvi. The 20-year-old did not spare a world-class Rashid Khan in the penultimate over. Let us wait to see what the Titans have in store for us, for the run chase.

8:54 PM: CSK 165-3 after 16 overs. We are set for a big finish from the Super Kings. Shivam Dube is looking in sublime touch, having raced to 41 runs off just 16 balls. While Daryl Mitchell has scored just 14 runs off 12 balls, he will be prepared to switch gears. Any total above 210 will be difficult to chase on this surface. GT need wickets here.

8:19 PM: CSK 104-1 after 10 overs. The southern side are on fire as they are cruising at the moment despite losing danger man Ravindra in the sixth over.
