Actor Jamie Foxx has shared an update on his recovery, since his hospitalisation in April where he had an unspecified “medical complication”.

The Django Unchained star posted a three-minute video to Instagram on Friday where he revealed that he is not “blind” or “paralyzed”.

“I went through something I never thought I would go through. I know a lot of people [were] waiting or wanting to hear an update, but to be honest with you, I didn’t want you to see me like that man,” he said.

The 55-year-old actor, who recently appeared in good health during a recent trip to Las Vegas according to an eyewitness, continued: “I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, [or] a television show.

“I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

The Hollywood star claimed he went through “hell and back” to make it through and experienced some “potholes” on his journey to a full recovery.

He said his “eyes are working just fine” as he moved them from side to side, and made it clear to his fans that he is “not paralysed”.

Foxx thanked his family, including his sister Deondra Dixon, and daughter Corinne, for “saving” his life and keeping his journey private.

“To them, to God, to a lot of great medical people, I’m able to leave you this video,” he said.

“I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in in such a way, and y’all know they kept it airtight, they didn’t let nothing out, they protected me, and that’s what I hope that everyone could have in moments like these.

The actor was hospitalised with an undisclosed medical issue back in April — but he recently appeared in Sin City to work on a campaign with BetMGM, a sports betting company connected with MGM Resorts.

A source told People: “Jamie was putting in really long days and was spot on. It was like nothing happened. You would have never known [he had a health issue].”

Foxx suffered the issue while he was working on the Netflix movie Back in Action, which also stars Cameron Diaz and Glenn Close.

In April, the actor’s daughter Corinne announced that her dad was suffering from a medical complication, where she shared a statement on behalf of her family that read: “We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday.

“Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”
