The Broncos have beaten the Warriors 26-22 after the hosts were denied a potential match winning try due to a penalty in a thriller at McLean Park in Napier.

Adam Reynolds was superb in his return, while Tristan Sailor had a brilliant Broncos debut Dallin Watene-Zelzniak scored a double and could have had five in a beaten side.

Sailor turned provider for Mariner to score his second to cap off a brilliant Broncos debut for the fullback and seal the win.

Nicoll-Klokstad scored a late try for the Warriors to set up a nervous finish.

Montoya dived over to score as the game went right down to the wire.

Montoya scored his second in two minutes which would have locked up the scores with a kick to come, but the try was taken away as Adam Pompey pulled at Mariner’s jersey.

The Broncos held on for a famous win, while the Warriors were left to rue missed chances in the one that got away.

The Broncos and the Warriors are both 1-17.

Adam Reynolds returns from concussion for the Broncos at halfback in a timely boost with Reece Walsh, Selwyn Cobbo, Payne Haas, Tom Flegler, Patrick Carrigan on origin duty.

Tristan Sailor will make his Broncos debut at fullback for Walsh, while Deine Mariner comes in for Cobbo.

Corey Jensen and Keenan Palasia replace Haas and Flegler as the starting props, while Kobe Hetherington starts at lock for Carrigan.

The new faces on the bench are Xavier Willison and Brendan Piakura.

For the Warriors Luke Metcalf will debut for the Warriors at five-eighth, while Jackson Ford returns from a head knock.

Hooker Wayde Egan (calf) is out and replaced by Freddy Lussick at dummyhalf.

The fourth placed Broncos will be looking to cement their top four spot, while the seventh placed Warriors will be looking to cement their top eight spot.
