Australian shoppers left infuriated over HUGE change to Woolworths deli department

Woolworths’ decision to make a big change to its deli department has been met with the wrath of customers.

The move, that’s been labelled “ridiculous” and “unfair” by shoppers, means deli items will no longer be available for purchase with just the click of a button.

Food items like fresh shaved ham, bacon and chicken will instead only be available for purchase in-store.

Shoppers have taken to social media to fire their complaints to the supermarket giant.

“For the past three weeks I’ve been unable to order anything fresh from the deli for delivery and can only order pre-packaged brands,” one shopper said.

“Has anyone else been experiencing this? Is there a work around it or do I just swap to Coles? I can’t buy any of these via boot pick-up or delivery BUT they are all available if I shop in-store!” said another.

“The moment there are things you can’t order, what’s the point?! If you have to go for a couple of items, you may as well get everything while you’re there,” a third shopper wrote.

A Woolworths spokesperson told 7News the change is part of a new review the company is undertaking.

“We’re listening to the customer feedback and always looking at ways to improve the freshness of the deli goods we have for home delivery,” they said.

“We’re undertaking a review of our delivery processes so we can continue to ensure we’re providing the best offering for our customers. Where we can, we will offer customers a suitable alternative if their preferred choice is not currently available.”

PerthNow understands customers in some locations have already been affected by the changes, however, deli items are still currently available for shoppers on some online Woolworths stores.
