England vs Brazil live updates: International friendly team news, line ...
Hope everyone is enjoying their afternoon, morning or evening, depending on where you are in the world.
Ed Mackey - who's got boots on the ground at Wembley Stadium - and I will be bringing you live coverage of this hopefully exciting encounter.
Looking forward to it - hope you are too.
This is the latest in a four-part series examining the selection decisions Gareth Southgate has to make before this summer’s European Championship.
Part one was on the goalkeepers. Part two looked at the defenders. Part three analysed the midfielders.
Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden are certainties, but the identity of the other forwards in England's Euro 2024 squad is up for debate. Should boss Gareth Southgate's picks be based on form, experience or profile?
The Athletic — in the final part of our series — investigates below.
It's a pretty shaken-up, experimental Brazil squad. Of course, international friendlies, with nothing officially on the line, is the time to try new things, certainly as Dorival sees it.
None of the goalkeepers have senior international experience, of the defenders, only Danilo has more than three caps, there is only one outfield player older than 30 and Douglas Luiz, with 11 caps, is one of the most-capped midfielders.
Plus, four of Brazil's eight attackers have two caps or less. We'll look at Brazil's new and breakthrough stars shortly.
Brazil's manager Dorival Junior was appointed in January after leaving domestic giants Sao Paulo.
Dorival, 61, said that it was “the realisation of a personal dream, which was only possible because I received recognition for the work carried out in Sao Paulo.”
Brazil had been heavily linked with the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti, but the Italian extended his contract at Real Madrid until June 2026.
Brazil parted company with caretaker boss Fernando Diniz earlier in January after just two victories from his six matches at the helm of the national team. And, like Diniz, Dorival has shaken things up with his squad selection...

The biggest shock has to be Kobbie Mainoo's inclusion, after manager Gareth Southgate previously hinting he didn't want to promote the 18-year-old to the senior squad too early.
Elsewhere, centre halves Ezri Konsa and Jarrad Branthwaite, both uncapped, have profited from injuries to Marc Guehi and Levi Colwill.
Attackers Anthony Gordon, Cole Palmer and Ivan Toney are rewarded for fine Premier League form despite their inexperience at international level.
Elsewhere, there is consternation (but not surprise) at the continued inclusion of 33-year-old Jordan Henderson (more on him later), while Harry Kane is included despite an ankle injury.

The sun is peeking through the clouds, the temperatures are inching up, blossoms are appearing on the trees and in a valiant attempt to rouse enthusiasm for the international break, the two big boys of the kit world have dropped some new designs. Spring is truly here.
Over the last week, Nike and Adidas have released a tranche of new kits before a colossal summer, which will take in the Copa America in the United States and Euro 2024 in Germany.
We will have full rundowns of all the kits at both tournaments closer to the time, but frankly, some of these designs are too delicious to wait until then, so here are some thoughts on the choice cuts.
If you’re a fan of snark about bad designs — which, admittedly, can be extremely fun — then this one isn’t for you. England's kit for the Euros - and all the others released - are delights...

As well as England vs Brazil, there are lots of international matches taking place too. A selection:
Republic of Ireland vs BelgiumDenmark vs SwitzerlandFrance vs GermanyTunisia vs CroatiaIt's currently set to be a cold, dark, classically British evening.
There's plenty of rain forecast today, albeit it's due to stop before kick-off, so the pitch might be quite zippy.
Plenty to chew on for England boss Gareth Southgate, who has 'consciously shelved' contract talks ahead of the European Championship this summer.

The March international break only features friendlies but, for Gareth Southgate and England, it is their final chance to prepare for the upcoming European Championship.
Squad sizes are being reduced, reverting to 23 players, making competition for places even tougher.
There is unprecedented pressure for England to win the tournament, which would be the first senior men’s silverware since 1966. To achieve that, and go one better than runners-up last time, Southgate must pick the right squad.
This is the first of a four-part series in which The Athletic assesses those options. Who is guaranteed a spot? Who should be there? What are the problem areas? And what are the contentious calls? Part one: Goalkeepers.

Here's how you can tune into the action without, of course, foregoing this live blog.

Location: Wembley Stadium, London.
Capacity: 90,000.
A small corner of north-west London will be absolutely rocking tonight.
On paper, three lions against a little canary doesn't sound like much of a fight. But matches aren't won on paper...
The match begins at 7pm GMT in the UK, which works out as 3pm ET and 12pm/midday PT in the US.
Bobby Moore's tackle on Jairzinho. Gordon Banks' save from Pele. Ronaldinho's lob on David Seaman. John Barnes' stunning solo effort at the Maracana.
All of these famous moments in the sport - and far more besides - have graced our eyeballs from England vs Brazil games gone past. Yes, today is only a 'friendly' match.
But who knows? There could be another iconic moment written into the rich tapestry of the sport we love tonight. Maybe Kobbie Mainoo nutmegs three Brazilians in three seconds. Maybe Jordan Pickford scores a penalty.
Maybe Jordan Henderson won't start (just kidding, this is an absolute certainty). Whatever it is - let's find out.
