British-Australian actress Miriam Margolyes has appeared on the cover of Vogue UK at the age 82,  posing nude for the iconic fashion magazine.

The July issue, which will go on news stands next week, is a special “pride” issue dedicated to the LGBT community.

Despite agreeing to appear almost completely naked for the photoshoot, Margolyes told the magazine she “hates” her body.

“I hate my body. I hate big t**s… (I have) a drooping belly, little twisted legs,” she said.

“I’m not thrilled with that. But you just make the best of it. You have to. You do the best you can.”

However, Margolyes also told the magazine her face is her best feature.

“I think my face is kind and warm and open and smiley.”

A veteran of stage and screen since the early 1960s, Margolyes famously played Professor Sprout in Harry Potter film series.

She also appeared in films like Martin Scorsese’s The Age of Innocence and TV series like Call The Midwife and Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries.

More recently, the entertainment veteran has attracted a whole new demographic of fans thanks to her often candid TV interviews.

“I’m lucky enough to still be interesting, I suppose,” she told Vogue.

Margolyes, who has been in a relationship with Australian historian Heather Sutherland since 1968, became a dual citizen of Australia in 2013.

The actress said she never struggled with her sexuality despite first meeting her partner in the 1960s when same sex relationships were not considered socially acceptable.

“I never had any shame about being gay or anything really,” she said.

“I knew it wasn’t criminal because it was me. I couldn’t be criminal.

“And I like being gay. I wouldn’t want to be straight for anything.”
