Drapers - The Monday Briefing: M&S, Crockett & Jones, Turnbull & Asser, TK Maxx

Marks & Spencer: M&S is planning to increase the number of its third-party brands, from 60 to 100, in order to increase sales and attract customers from competitors Next and John Lewis, The Telegraph reported on Sunday (19 March).

The retailer, which in November added Ted Baker, Superdry, Musto and Lyle & Scott to its menswear offering, has hired former Amazon Fashion general manager Nishi Mahajan to the role of director of third-party brands, effective mid-April.

Drapers has contacted M&S for comment.

Crockett & Jones and Turnbull & Asser:

Turnbull & Asser is reportedly set to take over the 69 Jermyn Street retail unit occupied by Crockett & Jones, according to Fashion Network.

Currently located at 71-72 Jermyn Street, the takeover will see Turnbull & Asser expand its retail space in the menswear destination.

Crockett & Jones confirmed to Drapers that it intends to vacate the retail unit, which opened in 1997 as the brand's first store. It is understood that the brand will retain its 92 Jermyn Street store, which opened in 2011.

Drapers has contacted Turnbull & Asser for comment.

TK Maxx: Clothing, footwear, lifestyle and homeware retailer TK Maxx will open a new store in London's Westfield White City shopping centre in the autumn, according to the Evening Standard.

The 30,000 sq ft retail unit chosen by TK Maxx was occupied by Debenhams until 28 April 2020.
